Shahrukh Khan to get a pair of chappals with love from Pakistan
Shahrukh Khan to get a pair of chappals with love from Pakistan: A Pakistani cousin of Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan wants to gift the actor a pair of chappals.
Noor Jehan, who is the daughter of Shah Rukh’s paternal uncle, is eager to meet the star after a long gap of 13 years. If she indeed meets SRK, she’s got a special gift for him: a pair of chappals.
Why chappals, of all things in the world.
Noor Jehan reveals it’s only on SRK’s request.
“During an earlier visit to Peshawar, Shah Rukh bought a pair of chappals that he used for about seven years,” Noor Jehan is quoted as saying. The longevity of the footwear apparently prompted SRK to ask Noor Jehan’s brother Mansoor to bring another pair. When Mansoor visited India in 2001, he brought three pairs for SRK.
Now, Noor Jehan too has brought chappals for SRK.
She’ll be in Delhi in the first week of Feb and then approach SRK.

Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan: Got ‘Power Couple’ Title
Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan: Got ‘Power Couple’ Title: Bollywood’s golden couple Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan have been bestowed with the recognition of ‘Power Couple’ by the esteemed Stardust magazine. The mega stars got the title recently at the launch of the latest issue of Stardust in Delhi. Abhishek and Aishwarya graced the occasion as they lifted the veil off to reveal their own photos as the cover page.
Abhishek and Aishwarya tied the nuptial knot around 4 years back on 20th April, 2007. Since then, the two have had an amazing off-screen chemistry and they always look head over heels in love with each other whenever they are spotted together.
The couple is hugely popular amidst the Bollywood movie lovers. They are big stars and have carved out a niche for themselves in the film industry. Aishwarya Rai leapt into fame after winning the Miss World pageant in 1994. Since then there has been no looking back as she climbed the ladders of fame via her big ticket to the B-town.
Abhishek Bachchan made his Bollywood debut some 10 years back with Refugee. But over the years, he and Aishwarya have starred in a plethora of films. Though the two look spectacular together off-screen, it is ironic that their on-screen chemistry has been mostly ‘thanda’ (cold).
However, in Mani Ratnam’s Guru they, indeed, looked fabulous together and the camaraderie was extremely great. Abhishek and Aishwarya add star value to the Bachchan family that is led by Amitabh Bachchan considered as one of the greatest actors of all times.
Money, popularity, a sea of fan following, films, endorsements, good looks and repute, they have got it all. Hence, it’s no doubt that Abhi-Ash do deserve the ‘Power Couple’ title.

'Seeta Aur Geeta' Remake: Akshay Kumar to play with Katrina Kaif!
'Seeta Aur Geeta' Remake: Akshay Kumar to play with Katrina Kaif!: Akshay Kumar the real action star of Bollywood may have seen quite a pitfall in his recent releases like Action Replay and Tees Maar Khan which had both bombed at the box office but that has not deterred his popularity amongst film makers.
This star is soon going to be seen in a very different genre film titled Patiala House where he plays the role of a cricketer who has to fight out his way with his family to achieve his dreams.
However, his retro look is yet again going to be explored as reports are that Akshay has been confirmed to star in the remake of Seeta Aur Geeta, a film which was one of the biggest blockbusters of the seventies. The original film had Hema Malini in a double role. The two male protagonists were played by Dharmendra and Sanjeev Kumar where Dharmendra gets attracted to the village belle and Sanjeev Kumar to the city bred gal.
The remake is to have Akshay Kumar sashaying the role of Dharmedra and Katrina Kaif to be the female protagonist. The other star has not yet been finalized suggest reports.
Seems like this year is going to see a lot of Akshay Kumar on the silver screen and that too if he’s paired opposite the hot Katrina again maybe the magic of their earlier films together like Namaste London, Welcome, Singh Is Kingg etc might be back and the remake of Seeta Aur Geeta becomes a bigger hit than the original. At least their fans hope it does. Keep an eye on more of this right here.

Salman Khan to play a negative role in Mr. India Sequel
Salman Khan to play a negative role in Mr. India Sequel: It has been a long time when the rumour about the sequel of 1987 hit film Mr India started. But nothing solid has come out of these gossips yet. This has irritated not only the fans but also the star of the film Anil Kapoor, who is still remembered for that role played by him.
Recently, the 51 year old star said that the project should be started as soon as possible rather than talking about it so much. Anil added that people have talked a lot about the sequel about the film and there is nothing left to talk about it now. He said that the project is yet blank and it should be started now.
However, the latest reports suggest a new development about the sequel that indicates the Bollywood superstar Salman Khan is expected to play villain in this film. It seems that the negative effect of his character in Dabangg has made him a hot choice for the role of villain. People loved his Chulbul Pandey act, which was quite mischievous.
On the other hand, Anil will return with his ‘bhabhi’ Sri Devi as the lead pair, which rocked the industry in the 1980s. Anil’s elder brother and Sri Devi’s husband Boney Kapoor is all set take the producer’s seat. Boney has plans to shoot the sequel in 3D.
If the star casts remain the same and it comes out in 3D, we can expect yet another hit from Anil Kapoor and Sri Devi!

Shahid Kapoor to drive at Priyanka Chopra's home
Shahid Kapoor to drive at Priyanka Chopra's home: Now what is this if not love? When Shahid Kapoor came to know of good friend Priyanka Chopra’s ill health on Saturday, he left everything aside to drive her back home.
What took everyone by surprise was that the same day Shahid arrived in Mumbai from Chandigarh, where he was shooting for his father’s film Mausam. When he came to know about PC’s poor health he went straight from the airport to the studio where she was shooting.
As per sources, Priyanka had a hectic day; she was busy promoting 7 Khoon Maaf and also had to join the Don 2 cast and crew for the shooting of the film. Shahrukh Khan was waiting for her on the sets. But in the meantime she ate something that upset her stomach, a probable case of food poisoning.
Learning this, Shahid came to the studio and waited for Priyanka until she finished her shoot to accompany her back home. “After the shoot completed for the day, the couple left together in Shahid’s car,” the source is quoted as saying.
A friend in need is a friend indeed!

Happy marriage life Sameer Soni and Neelam
Happy marriage life Sameer Soni and Neelam: Sameer Soni wed Neelam yesterday in a simple and quiet ceremony. The couple who made their relationship official last year, will have a grand reception on January 26 with several A-listers invited to the party.
However, some of their close friends from B-Town were also spotted at the wedding and one was TV czarina Ekta Kapoor, who is a very good friend of the bride. Also seen was Jitendra who turned out to bless the couple.
Last year, Sameer went public and declared his love for Neelam at his birthday party in Juhu. He proclaimed that he loved her but was unable to define their relationship. It was an awkward situation for Neelam as she seemed unprepared for such a situation. But as love surely finds its way, the duo became committed to each other and the rest is a fairy tale.
While talking about their post marriage plans, Neelam was quoted as saying, “Yes, I am very happy. We plan to start a family immediately. We want lots of kids.”
Neelam was earlier married to London-based industrialist Rishi Sethia while Samir was previously married to model Rajlaxmi Khanvilkar, who later got hitched to actor Rahul Roy.

Child within every man that's why 'Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji'
Child within every man that's why 'Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji': They say men never grow up and filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar is exploring this pyche of men in a humorous way through his new romantic comedy 'Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji' releasing Friday.
Starring Ajay Devgan, Emraan Hashmi and Omi Vaidya, 'Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji' is the slice of life movie that talks about three men and their encounters with love. Shazahn Padmasee, Shruti Haasan and debutante Shraddha Das will play their love interests respectively.
Naren Ahuja (Ajay) is in his thirties and is going through divorce. While nursing his broken heart following a failed marriage, Naren meets vibrant and bubbly June Pinto (Shazahn) and can't stop himself from falling in love with this young girl.
Milind Kelkar (Omi) is a naive poet and idealistic lover. He develops a liking for an ambitious and practical Gunjan Sarkar (Shraddha) who is determined to follow her dreams.
But Abhay (Emraan), a charming casanova, is different. His mantra in life is money and women. But his life too takes a turn after an encounter with Nikki (Shruti), a modern girl who knows her needs and speaks her mind. He too experiences love, an emotion he had always stayed away from.
According to director Bhandarkar, the film is a funny take on love, with real-life relatable characters, and shows to what extent people would go to achieve it or avoid it.
Bhandarkar is known for making hard-hitting and realistic films like 'Chandni Bar', 'Fashion' and 'Jail' which garnered critical acclaim as well as box office success.
'Chandni Bar', starring Tabu and Atul Kulkarni, depicted hardships of women working in dance bars, while 'Fashion' explored the glamorous but dark world of modelling. The film starred Priyanka Chopra in the lead.
His last outing 'Jail' put the spotlight on cruel realities faced by prisoners in jail. Although the film didn't do well at the box-office, it was indeed applauded by critics.
With 'Dil Toh Bachcha Hai Ji', Bhandarkar attempts to move away from serious cinema and take the audience on a laughter ride. However, the filmmaker is adamant that his stamp and signature style will be evident in the film.
Just like his director, Emraan, known for playing edgy roles in 'Murder', 'Gangster - A Love Story' and 'Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai', is trying comedy for the first time.
Omi has expectations riding high because this is his second release after blockbuster '3 Idiots' and the actor admits this has been a challenging role for him as he plays a Maharashtrian and he had to ensure that his accent is perfect.
Last year brought a mixed response for Ajay's films. While 'Golmaal 3' and 'Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai' and 'Raajneeti' were hits, his home production 'Toonpur Ka Superhero' and 'Aakrosh' failed to impress the audiences.
Ajay hopes to start the new year on a good note with 'Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji', which is the solo release this week.

Veena Malik: Nothing immoral in Big Boss House
Veena Malik: Nothing immoral in Big Boss House: Pakistani actress Veena Malik, who was an inmate in season four of Indian TV reality show “Big Boss”, has said there was nothing immoral about her relationship with Bollywood actor Ashmit Patel or any other member of the house.”All criticism of my action is baseless, because it is being hurled without knowing the facts,” Veena said in an interview with the Express TV Friday night.“I belong to the entertainment industry and have not done anything that I have not done before,” she said.
The actress said she was not representing Pakistan on the show but only the entertainment industry.
“I know my limits. I did not wear any revealing clothes or kissed Ashmit or any co-star in the show,” she said. “I was there to promote love and a spirit of friendship and have no regrets in doing so.”
Responding to a question about her physical intimacy with Ashmit Patel during the show, Veena denied having any such contact.
“I was as close to Ashmit as any other inmate of the house,” she said.
“I performed namaz in the Big Boss house and even Ashmit prayed with me,” she revealed, and also produced a video to prove her point.
Meanwhile, Ashmit Patel, speaking on the phone from Mumbai during the interview, said that he had prayed because he found the movements in namaz “very much like yoga”.
“I don’t believe in religion as such but have respect for all religions and keep collecting information about them,” he said, adding that he found peace in performing namaz.
An Islamic cleric, Mufti Abdul Baqi, who also participated in the interview, said: “Veena had shamed all Pakistanis and Muslims with her immoral acts during the show.”
“I want to tell her that she has not done justice to her talents by doing something which she can’t watch while sitting with her brother or son in future,” he said, asking her to mend her ways.
Veena burst into tears during the interview and said she confronted hostility from other participants like Shweta and Manoj, but the media never supported her.
“It is to my credit that I spent 84 days in the house against all odds,” she argued.
Interview host Kamran Shahid concluded the show by saying that most of the Pakistani people think Veena should not have committed such acts, particularly because of the high sensitivity towards the neighbouring country.
Veena Malik had earlier courted controversy because of her alleged relationship with embattled fast bowler Mohammad Asif.

Ruskin Bond expanded his story for Priyanka's ‘Saat Khoon Maaf’: Ruskin Bond, the grand old ’sahib’ from Landour in Mussourie, has been bitten by the tinsel bug. The novelist will make his maiden foray on the big screen with a cameo in Vishal Bhardwaj’s forthcoming ‘Saat Khoon Maaf’, based on his short story ‘Susannah’s Seven Husbands’.
‘I am in the movie. I have told Vishal that I have got a movie part. Don’t you dare cut me out,’ Bond told IANS at the ongoing DSC Jaipur Literature Festival.
This is not Bond’s first movie with filmmaker Bhardwaj. ‘I had earlier collaborated with him in the ‘Blue Umbrella’ which was also based on my story. The story was recommended to Vishal by his wife. I could not work with Bhardwaj on that movie,’ the 76-year-old author said.
Bond has been actively involved in scripting ‘Saat Khoon Maaf’, which stars Priyanka Chopra, unlike a previous screen adaptation of his short story ‘The Flight of Pigeons’ in ‘Junoon’, where he ‘did not even meet the director’.
‘Susannah… was originally a short story comprising a few odd pages. When Vishal decided to turn it into a movie, I expanded the story into an 80-page novella and then began to think in terms of scenes. It became an actual script – a 200-page full-length Hindi script,’ Bond said.
Bond appears in the movie with Priyanka Chopra, who kills ‘each of her seven husbands’.
‘I had to devise regional (Indian) ways of killing the husbands,’ Bond said.
The author believes that movies do justice to literature.
‘I was a great movie-goer as a boy. I had watched some great movies adapted from Charles Dickens’ classics like ‘David Copperfield’, ‘Great Expectations’, ‘Oliver Twist’ and ‘Christmas Carol’. His classics lend themselves to brilliant visual adaptations on screen. Stories by writers like Somerset Maugham and Daphne du Maurier were also made into movies,’ Bond said.
‘My own writing has been influenced by the fact that I went to see the movies and I always thought in terms of visuals,’ he said.
Bond said his ‘fondness for short story as a preferred writing format dates back to his early youth’. ‘One of the reasons why I like writing stories is because when I started writing I had to make a living out of it. Novels could take up to a year,’ he said.
Bond said the sense of perpetual wonder that marked his stories was because he didn’t grow up.
The novelist, who believes in the importance of the oral tradition of story-telling feels that laptops have changed the way children look at stories. ‘They read great stories on the internet. Fantasy has a great appeal today and technology has made inroads into stories,’ he said.
According to Bond, whose books are also steeped in fantasy, ‘the Harry Potter novels had been brilliantly executed and highly successful’.
‘Potter has proved children’s books can outsell adult books and become bestsellers,’ he said.
Born in 1934, the iconic writer of British origin was honoured with the Padma Shri in 1999 for his contribution to children’s literature. He is famous for novellas and short stories like the ‘Room on the Roof’, ‘Night Train at Deoli’, ‘Time Stops at Shamli’, ‘Our Trees Still Grow in Dehra’, and ‘Flight of the Pigeons’.
But what is the master storyteller’s favourite story? Pat comes his reply: ‘Often at night, I am restless and my blanket slips off. An unseen benign hand puts the blanket back on me. It is a very motherly ghost.’
This is a ghost story that Ruskin Bond has never got around to writing. It is his friendly guardian spirit.

Deepika Padukone not interested to play in Shahid's 'Heer Ranjha'?
Deepika Padukone not interested to play in Shahid's 'Heer Ranjha'?: Producer Sajid Nadiadwala’s Heer Ranjha is unlikely to go on floors. As things stand today, the Shahid Kapoor and Deepika Padukone starrer is almost shelved.
Sabir Khan, who was supposed to direct Heer Ranjha is still working with Nadiadwala but on a different film, which will most probabbly have Shahid playing the lead but Deepika is not a part of this.
Rumour has it that Deepika was not too keen on acting in Heer Ranjha. Shall we assume she is not as friendly with Shahid as she was a few months ago?
A friend of Nadiadwala’s stood up for him and said, “Deepika was never in the project. Sajid is still doing Sabir’s film; he is reworking its script.”
In that case, why did Sabir tell a section of the media about Deepika being paired with Shahid in his film? Reportedly, Sabir had said, “I don’t think it really makes a difference if the leading lady is taller than the hero... any heroine, no matter how tall she is, is keen to work with Aamir Khan. Dippy (as Deepika is fondly called) has agreed to do the film. I think Shahid and she make a great pair. They’ve never been paired before.”
A source very close to the film confirmed and said, “Heer Ranjha is not happening, at least not with Shahid and Deepika together. Right now, Sabir is writing something new.”
