SRK says he needed Johar to speed up the project which has fallen behind schedule, while Mumbai tabloids report that SRK and Sinha were having creative differences.
The term 'creative differences' is usually an euphemism for something more grim. For example, if we didn't know better, Mel Gibson's rant to her former girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva - You look like a f*king pig in heat and if you get raped by a pack of ni**ers it will be your fault - could well have been described by his lawyers as nothing more than creative difference between the couple.
Well, maybe not?
Anyway, this is how SRK explained Karan's presence on the set of RA.One
"Rains...shooting action & montages together.2 units...location demands etc.Karan assisting us for a day.hopefully we will make the schedule really sweet to see Karan on an action film shoot.should blow the cars to kal ho na ho music. kajol in a guest role in the flying cars ha ha" he tweeted yesterday.
Shah Rukh considers Johar his lucky mascot - All their films together have been box-office hits (Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998), Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (2001), Kal Ho Naa Ho (2003), Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna (2006), My Name is Khan (2010).
Karan, in London since Thursday, had been attending the shoot everyday. He was probably getting a grip of things before donning the director's hat.
While in London, Johar also arranged for a dinner date between Shah Rukh and Aamir Khan.
The two Khans dined and caught up over jokes and laughs in the company of Johar and Gauri Khan.
It remains to be seen how Sinha takes his sidelining from the project. We wouldn't be surprised if SRK ultimately ends up taking a page out of friend Aamir's book.
Aamir completely sidelined his Taare Zameen Par director Amole Gupte and took over as the helmer. With RA.One it could well be Johar replacing Sinha.
