Shanker Used Animatronics Technology for 'Rajinikant Robot'

Shanker has Used Animatronics Technology for Rajinikant Robot: For his Rajnikant-Aishwarya Rai Bachchan sci-fi trilingual, Robot (Hindi)/ Enthiran (Tamil and Telugu), director Shankar has collaborated with Hollywood’s Stan Winston Studio for visual effects and make-up. About 40 per cent of the Rs 150 crore budget was spent on the SFX.

Shankar has used animatronics technology, seen in Steven Spielberg’s Jurassic Park trilogy, for Rajnikant’s Robot. The southern superstar and the director spent over two weeks at the Los Angeles studio, preparing the body mould for the Robot.

First, Rajnikant’s body was scanned to make a prototype that served as the basis for the Hollywood technicians. Shankar confirmed the news: “When we have A-listers like Rajnikant and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in a futuristic movie like this, you need to give your audience something more.” Currently, a team from the studio is putting the finishing touches to the movie at Shankar’s office in Chennai.

The filmmaker has created a special set-up for his crew from the West. The music of the film was launched in Kuala Lumpur last night. Director Shankar, along with his composer AR Rahman and actors Rajnikant and Rai Bachchan, was present at the gala in the Malaysian capital. The Hindi soundtrack will be launched in Mumbai in early August.
