The proprietor of Tirumala Tirupati Venkateswara Films, Chadalawada Srinivasa Rao, bagged the rights. He said: “I hold firm belief in the power of Shankar and his magic with the celluloid. At present, Rajini, Aishwarya and Shankar are considered the prime film personalities in the country. All the films of Shankar are blockbusters so far. The same belief prompted me to get the film for Telugu audience for this hefty price.”

The Telugu distributor maintained that Robot will be releasing all over Andhra Pradesh in nearly 600 theatres. “We are expecting our investment in the first one week. We are also careful with the piracy menace, which would be more after the first week run.”

It may be noted here that three producers in Tollywood competed for the rights of Robot: Bellamkonda Suresh with Rs 20 crores, followed by two others with Rs 23 and Rs 26 crores respectively. But, Sun Pictures insisted on not disposing the product for less than Rs 30 crore.
